1. Who we are

Yacht Hire Saint-Tropez operates yachthiresainttropez.com and acts as the controller of the personal data described on this page. For any question about this policy, a booking, or your data, write to [email protected].

2. Information we collect

When you fill in the enquiry form, we receive the name, email, phone number (if you give one), chosen yacht (if any), charter start and end dates, number of guests, and your message, together with the page you were on and the site that referred you.

If you call, email or message us directly, we keep that correspondence to handle your request.

When you tap a WhatsApp button on the site, we record the click — the page, the referring site, your browser language and the pre-filled message — before WhatsApp opens. The conversation that follows happens inside WhatsApp and is governed by Meta's own privacy policy, not this one.

Our server logs the usual technical details of each visit (IP address, time, page requested, browser) for a short period for security purposes, and we do not store this IP address alongside enquiry or booking data.

We also measure visits ourselves, without any third-party analytics or advertising tool. This records pages viewed, time on page, referring site, any campaign tag in the link, device type, browser, operating system, screen size, browser language and a country guessed from the IP address; the IP address itself is discarded. If you send an enquiry or tap a phone or WhatsApp link, that action is linked to the same visit so we know which channel brought it to us.

3. Why we use it, and on what basis

We use enquiry details to prepare a quote and discuss your charter — this is a pre-contractual step, and once you confirm a booking in writing, it becomes necessary to perform that contract.

We keep booking records because tax and accounting rules oblige us to.

Server logs and visit statistics are used on the basis of our legitimate interest in keeping the site secure and understanding which pages and channels work, in a way that does not override your own rights since no IP address or contact detail is kept in that data.

We do not use personal data for automated decision-making, we do not sell it, and we do not send marketing messages unless you specifically ask us to.

4. Who receives your data

Enquiries reach our own team through an internal messaging tool so we can reply quickly; only people who need to handle your request see it.

Once a charter is confirmed, the captain or driver who will run that trip receives the details needed to prepare and perform the service — dates, guest numbers and any specific requests.

Our website is hosted by a hosting provider that stores the site's data on our behalf.

Web fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which means Google receives the visitor's IP address to serve the font file; the phone-number field in our form loads a small library from the jsDelivr content delivery network. Neither of them sets cookies for us and neither receives your enquiry content.

If you start a conversation through the WhatsApp button, that exchange is carried by WhatsApp, operated by Meta.

5. Transfers outside the European Union

Google Fonts and jsDelivr may process the technical connection data mentioned above outside the European Union as part of delivering their service. WhatsApp conversations are also processed by Meta under its own international arrangements. Beyond these points, we do not otherwise transfer your enquiry or booking data outside the European Union.

6. Guest names for a confirmed charter

Once a charter is confirmed, French maritime rules require a crew list naming everyone on board, which must be available to the captain and, where requested, to port authorities. For this reason, we will ask you for the full names of your guests before departure, and this information is passed only to the crew operating your charter and, if required, to the relevant port authority.

7. How long we keep your data

Enquiries that do not turn into a booking are deleted after 24 months. Confirmed booking records are kept for as long as tax and accounting legislation requires us to retain them. Server logs are kept only briefly, for security purposes.

8. Browser storage on this site

The site stores a few small entries in your browser rather than using cookies. One remembers that you closed the cookie notice. One remembers which yacht you clicked on, so the enquiry form can be pre-filled; it is removed once you close the tab or send the form. One holds random visitor and session identifiers used only for our own visit statistics; it expires 30 days after your last visit and you can clear it in your browser at any time. None of these entries contain your name, email or phone number.

9. Keeping your data secure

Enquiry and booking data is kept in our booking system and shared internally only through the messaging tool used by our team. Server access is logged, and only the people who need the data to answer you or run your charter can see it.

10. Your rights and how to use them

Under the General Data Protection Regulation and the French Data Protection Act (Loi Informatique et Libertés), you can ask us to access, correct, delete or limit the use of your personal data, ask for a copy in a portable format, and object to processing based on our legitimate interest. To exercise any of these, write to [email protected]; we may ask for proof of identity before acting on the request, and we reply within one month.

If you believe your data has not been handled properly, you can lodge a complaint with the Commission Nationale de l'Informatique et des Libertés (CNIL) at www.cnil.fr.

11. Children, and changes to this policy

This website and its charter services are intended for adults arranging a yacht charter, and we do not knowingly collect data from children.

We may update this policy if our tools or practices change. The version published on yachthiresainttropez.com is always the one that applies, and we encourage you to check it before sending us your details.
